This book describes the application of The ClimateQUAL (R) survey protocol (originally Organizational Climate and Diversity Assessment-OCDA (c)) to over 55 libraries with thousands of individual respondents in the US, Canada and UK. The ClimateQUAL toolkit provides the ultimate management tool for effective organizational adaptation by employing deep assessment of a library's staff opinions to plumb the dimensions of climate and organizational culture important for a healthy organization in a library setting. It tests critical attitudes around 26 validated dimensions. The ClimateQUAL survey measures include work attitudes, diversity climate, leadership and several other dimensions of library climate. The book describes the procedure for evaluating the structure and psychometric properties of each of these scales. The basic premise of neurodiversity is that there is no "normal" baseline for brain processes, but that all individual brains vary and therefore are diverse. The CAST organization estimates that 11% of college students enrolling in post-secondary campuses having a learning disability or learning difference. As neurodiverse students enroll in post-secondary education, the environments within which these students learn, can either support or impede their ability to succeed. The digital libraries emerging from "information societies" no longer concern only digital technodocumentary devices that are patrimonial, cultural or scientific. Social networks and high-audience merchant sites share the same technologies, heterogeneous digital resources, offer identical user experience (UX) capabilities, and are born within the same communities of designers and engineers. These technology-induced recoveries nourish a usage fantasy that irrigates a transformation movement of innovation where use and user occupy a central place. The evolution of digital libraries does not constitute a disjointed set of singular innovations. They are the result of an innovation movement that gives them a specific dynamic and produces two major effects: empowering users and increasing their number. Although they may not have always been explicitly stated, library work has always had normative goals. Until recently, such goals have largely been abstract; they are things like knowledge creation, education, forwarding science, preserving history, supporting democracy, and safeguarding civilization. The modern spirit of social and cultural critique, however, has focused our attention on the concrete, material relationships that determine human potentiality and opportunity, and library workers are increasingly seeing the institution of the library, as well as library work, as embedded in a web of relations that extends beyond the library's traditional sphere of influence. In light of this critical consciousness, more and more library and information science professionals are coming to see themselves as change agents and front-line advocates of social justice issues.
