Das Buch stellt ein kognitiv fundiertes konstruktionsbasiertes Modell der Informationsstruktur vor, das die Satz- und Textebene gleichermassen berucksichtigt. Jeder Satz druckt eine spezielle Perspektive aus, realisiert durch Schemakomplexe aus Komponenten wie pronominaler und morphologischer Topikmarkierung, Wortfolge, Prosodie und Thematyp. Besonders drei Schematypen - die Themasetzung, das ereigniszentrierte Schema und die Topikkontinuierungsschema - zeigen sich theoretisch und empirisch relevant. Das Modell wird in einer deutsch-ungarischen Korpusanalyse erprobt. Die ermittelten Grundschemata weisen Korrelationen mit Texttyp, Satztyp und Inhaltstyp auf. Weitere Analysen betreffen diverse grammatische Phanomene, wie die Klammerstruktur oder die satzinitiale Stellung des schwachen Pronomens.

Esta nueva version del diccionario recoge el lexico que crearon los jovenes de Medellin, las transformaciones lexicas, las incorporaciones del lunfardo, del lenguaje coloquial caribeno, del argot espanol, del lenguaje rural antioqueno, del lenguaje coloquial colombiano y algunos terminos del ingles. El criterio para incorporar una entrada es el uso frecuente. Define, presenta ejemplos y se contrasta con seis diccionarios. Se revisaron trabajos dialectologicos, se entrevistaron jovenes, se revisaron textos, programas de television y conversaciones espontaneas. Esta version recoge nuevos materiales orales y escritos, con el fin de contextualizar terminos nuevos o modificados en la forma o en el significado y de verificar el uso del lexico recogido en el 2006.

Gegenstand dieser Monographie ist die kontrastive Untersuchung der deutschen und kroatischen Idiome auf Grund ihrer Merkmale der Expressivitat, Emotionalitat, der Modifizierbarkeit und UEbersetzbarkeit, sowie ihrer Funktionen. Ziel ist es, Idiome im Deutschen und Kroatischen aus mehreren Blickwinkeln in Bezug auf die innere Beteiligung der Autoren in unterschiedlichen Texten zu untersuchen und zu vergleichen. Die Materialbasis bilden journalistische und literarische Texte als Quellen verschiedener Fallstudien.

Mehrsprachige Menschen verfugen uber die Fahigkeit, mitten in einer AEusserung von einer Sprache in die andere zu wechseln. Dieses sogenannte Codeswitching wird von der Forschung inzwischen als systemhafte kommunikative Ressource anerkannt, deren Untersuchung interessante Einblicke in den Prozess der Sprachverarbeitung gibt. Diese Arbeit zeigt die Besonderheiten phraseologischer Mehrwortverbindungen im bilingualen Diskurs aus einer neuen Perspektive. Sie erlautert am Beispiel von Gesprachen deutscher Emigranten in die USA, welche Regelmassigkeiten beim Codeswitching im Kontext von Phrasemen sichtbar werden und erklart, wie sich Sprachmischungsphanomene an der Schnittstelle zwischen Syntax und Lexikon in die aktuelle Diskussion zu Mehrsprachigkeit und Sprachverarbeitung einbetten lassen.

Linguists have standardly assumed that grammar is about identifying all and only the 'good' sentences of a language, which implies that there must be other, 'bad' sentences- but in practice most linguists know that it is hard to pin those down. The standard assumption is no more than an assumption. A century ago, grammarians did not think about their subject that way, and our book shows that the older idea was right: linguists can and should dispense with the concept 'starred sentence'. We draw on corpus data in order to support a different model of grammar, in which individuals refine positive grammatical habits to greater or lesser extents in diverse and unpredictable directions, but nothing is ever ruled out. Languages are not merely alternative methods of verbalizing universal logical forms. We use empirical evidence to shed light on the routes by which school-age children gradually expand their battery of grammatical resources, which turn out to be sometimes counter-intuitive. Our rejection of the 'starred sentence' concept has attracted considerable discussion, and we summarize the reactions and respond to our critics. The contrasting models of grammar described in this book entail contrasting pictures of human nature; our closing chapter shows that grammatical theory is not value-neutral but has an ethical dimension.

The study of classical languages by earlier generations of English-speaking students was greatly facilitated by the traditional study of English grammar in the schools emphasising precisely the grammatical concepts, terms, and constructions needed for the study of Greek and Latin. While recent textbooks presume little or no previous grammatical sophistication on the part of their students, they often provide little more by way of remediation than definitions of grammatical terminology. Wenn man uber das menschliche Leben spricht oder schreibt, benutzt man oft metaphorische Ausdrucke wie am Kreuzweg stehen oder sein Leben aufs Spiel setzen. Im ersten Teil der Arbeit geht der Autor der Frage nach, wie metaphorische Idiome im Rahmen der kognitiven Linguistik, unter kritischer Betrachtung der kognitiven Metapherntheorie von Lakoff und Johnson, untersucht werden koennen. Im empirischen Teil wird eine Sammlung von deutschen metaphorischen Lebens-Idiomen aus Woerterbuchern und aus dem Deutschen Referenzkorpus (IDS-Korpus) zusammengestellt und ihre Motiviertheit in Korpusbelegen untersucht. Die Idiome werden demnach nicht nur durch konzeptuelle Metaphern, sondern auch durch Symbole sowie etymologisches, kulturelles und enzyklopadisches Wissen motiviert.
