A collection of the perennially popular Funny Bones books by Allan Ahlberg
The Level 3 books are designed to build on Levels 1 and 2 whilst introducing new consonant blends and digraphs. Additionally, the stories have been written to encourage inferencing and problem solving through the stories and images to enhance the reader’s skills and fun!
How does the sea snake swim? What is a 'hinged' tortoise? Who cleans a
crocodile's teeth? Do toads cause warts? How do some frogs survive the
dry season?
There is a storyteller in almost every village in Africa. Telling stories is not her official job. By day she may be a Gogo, a teacher, a farmer or a seamstress. But at night, round the fire, she will sit surrounded by young children, old friends, neighbours and travellers. She will tell of how it was in the olden days, when the earth was young, when man was a hunter-gatherer, and when the animals roamed wild throughout the continent. The author spent several months hiking around the villages, towns, farms and deserts of Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and South Africa, asking people who can't read or write to tell her their favourite stories. The result is this children's treasury of legends and fables, of witchdoctors and kingdoms of strange creatures and talking animals, which celebrates Africa and its ancient storytelling culture.

Following the success of My first book of Southern African Birds, volume 2 introduces a further 58 fascinating birds found at the seashore, rivers and lakes, in grasslands and forests, and also in suburban gardens. Striking full-colour illustrations are accompanied by brief descriptions in four languages, and there are visual clues to diet, nest, footprint and each bird’s relative size. This book will appeal to southern Africa's younger readers and inspire an interest in birds and the natural world.
Die wêreldbekende, jaarlikse hoenderskou in Roosville is ’n groot
gebeurtenis. Maar toe twee diamante spoorloos verdwyn, is daar
konsternasie.
My first book of Southern African Seashore life is the latest title in this successful children's series. The title covers 58 sea creatures and plants that are likely to be seen at the shore. An illustrated introduction gives context to the subject, and then each of the featured specimens gets a vivid, full-colour illustration; simple, informative text; translation into three other languages – Afrikaans, Xhosa and Zulu; visual clues about the creatures' diet, size, distribution round our coast, locomotion and exactly where they live relative to the water line. This beautiful and inspiring introduction to southern Africa’s shores will appeal to children – and parents – of all ages.

Learning sounds is fun with Tippie the elephant! Tippie learns sounds
was developed in collaboration with an occupational therapist. This
series includes early learning and developmental outcomes to support
phonemic awareness. Generalisation and consolidation of letter sounds,
letter formation as well as auditory and visual perception skills form
part of this unique approach. Tippie learns sounds includes hidden
curriculum skills and encourages incidental learning. A structured
approach to learning and recognising letters with associations is
supported by focusing on correct letter formation with a clear
beginning and end for each letter. Visual scanning for task completion
and early reading is encouraged with an emphasis on working from
left-to-right, top-to-bottom. Learning readiness is key to our
approach, emphasising fun, child-centred and age appropriate
multi-sensorial activities.
Haar naam is Mollewania Mollewiekus Nagtegaal.
Of
gaan sy die arme onderwysers moedeloos maak? Maar, wag, jy moet maar
self lees wat TOE gebeur.
