2011 Reprint of 1913 Edition. Illustrated Edition. Aleister Crowley (1875 -1947), born Edward Alexander Crowley, and also known as both Frater Perdurabo and The Great Beast, was an influential English occultist, mystic and ceremonial magician, responsible for founding the religious philosophy of Thelema. Book Four, Parts I & II, published herein, together with Magick in Theory and Practice [which is part III of Book Four] make up the complete course of Crowley's Magick, with practical instruction in Yoga and Mysticism. This book is the introduction, the foundation upon which all further magical work by Crowley is based. The second part of Book Four is an encyclopedia of magical symbolism, the working tools in practical magick. All of the paraphernalia employed in ritual magick are carefully explained in both psychological and mystical terms.
The ancient texts speak of time as movement. They affirm that time and space, movement and stillness, are illusions. To sustain any illusion requires an enormous amount of resources. This depletion of resources causes aging and decay. The illusion of polarity, the impossibility that the One Life can be divided and split, is brought to resolution by balancing the opposite poles exactly. Only then can they cancel one another out, revealing an incorruptible reality that lies beyond - the reality of Eternal Youth.

During two feverish decades between the world wars, Bernarr Macfadden did more to educate the world about healthy eating, alternative medicine, regular sexual activity, and exercise than anyone in history. His disciples included Upton Sinclair and Charles Atlas; among his employees were Walter Winchell, Ed Sullivan, and Eleanor Roosevelt. He launched the worst newspaper in U.S. history, founded a whole-grain utopian community in the New Jersey suburbs, trained fascist cadets for Mussolini, and came within a hair's breadth of being elected senator from Florida--running on a physical fitness platform. Yet today few have heard of this larger-than-life entrepreneur who changed American society. In "Mr. America," Mark Adams illuminates Macfadden's captivating, ambitious, and unparalleled life.
In "Shadow Yoga, Chaya Yoga, "author Shandor Remete shows how to utilize yoga to enhance all aspects of physical and spiritual health. Focusing specifically on the hatha tradition, the book delves deep into original Sanskrit texts, explaining the theoretical foundation of yoga in clear, encouraging language. Remete describes the "shadows" noted by classical yoga teachers that block the student, and shows ways to move beyond them. The book covers the key concepts of traditional yoga--the "marmas, "chakras, "vayus "(sources of energy), and "nadis "(flows of energy through the body)--before turning to the yogic techniques that improve their condition and functioning--asana (poses), "nauli "(abdominal exercises), pranayama (breathing), mudra (gestures), and "laya" (absorptions). It closes with illustrated sequences of the most important asanas. "Shadow Yoga "also discusses various little-understood, oft-neglected aspects of yogic training, such as the role of "marma "points (acupuncture-like energy points) and the influence of the zodiac. Detailed drawings of the body's energy system and its links to these elemental and planetary forces provide a visual guide to these largely unknown areas of yoga. This knowledge, considered essential in Indian yogic traditions, has been almost entirely lost in modern Western schools of yoga. Author Remete restores that information in this beautifully designed book.

In "Yogabody, " author Judith Hanson Lasater writes, "You can't fully understand the dynamic movement of asana without first understanding the basic structure of the human body." Drawing on almost 40 years' experience as a yoga teacher and physical therapist, she focuses here on macroanatomy and kinesiology in relationship to asana practice and teaching. Organized into five parts -- the locomotor system, the vertebral column, the lower extremity, the trunk, and the upper extremity, "Yogabody "covers the body's bones, joints, connective tissue, nerves, and muscles. This valuable guide builds on what yoga teachers already know and enables them to quickly decide what might help their students move with more enjoyment and less difficulty. It helps yoga students understand how their own body functions. Packed with color anatomical drawings, black-and-white diagrammatic asana illustrations, and helpful charts, "Yogabody "is the "Gray's Anatomy" for yoga teachers and students.
WISDOM CHI KUNG teaches practitioners how to revitalise the brain: to repair function, increase memory and expand capacity. Every day we use up so much of our brain's capacity to function that we have very little left at the end of the day. By thinking or worrying too much, the brain can use up to 80 percent of the body's entire energy reserve. Learning to stop the brain, to empty the mind from the ceaseless chatter of the monkey mind and then recharge it with chi energy can increase our mental capacity, focus, and clarity. Using the Inner Smile meditation technique, practitioners learn how to recharge chi energy for the brain in a form that is most useful. Practitioners smile and empty the mind into the lower tan tien and the organs. The organs then transform this chi energy. When the mind is empty, the energy transformed by the organs is sent back to the brain to revitalize it. This process synchronises the left and right brain by activating and tapping in to the body's energetic potentials. As the mind continues to empty, receive and enhance the transformed chi energy, it is able to open itself to connect with universal chi energies and fill the body with enhanced life force.* Details techniques to increase the level of chi energy in the brain and explains how to synchronise the left and right brain by activating the body's energetic potentials*Shows that by emptying the mind there is more energy to heal the body
