Social and Sustainability Marketing - A Casebook for Reaching Your Socially Responsible Consumers through Marketing Science... Social and Sustainability Marketing - A Casebook for Reaching Your Socially Responsible Consumers through Marketing Science (Hardcover)
Jishnu Bhattacharyya, Manoj Kumar Dash, Chandana Hewege, M.S. Balaji, Weng Marc Lim
R2,125 Discovery Miles 21 250 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

"... an important intervention in the conversation around social and ecological sustainability that draws on both micromarketing and macromarketing scholarship to help the reader understand the challenges with illustrations from insightful cases both from emerging and developed economies. This compilation should be essential reading for the discerning student of sustainable consumption and production." -- Professor Pierre McDonagh, Associate Editor, Journal of Macromarketing (USA); Professor of Critical Marketing & Society, University of Bath, UK Experts in the field of economics, management science, and particularly in the marketing domain have always been interested in and acknowledged the importance of sustaining profitable businesses while incorporating societal and environmental concerns; however, the level of existing literature and availability of teaching cases reflect a dearth of real case studies, especially those focused on marketing for social good. This book of actual case studies will address that need. In addition, this book is important and timely in providing a case book for instructors (those in both industry and academia) to help them in teaching and training the next generation of leaders through corporate training and universities. Currently, marketing for social good is increasingly becoming a part of most curriculums under the umbrella of different titles, such as social marketing, green marketing, and sustainability marketing. The relevance of these studies is increasing across the globe. This book is composed of long and short real cases with varying complexity in different sectors. This case book will also cover some review articles for an overview of the recent developments in the study area. With these case studies, collections of questions, teaching materials, and real-life marketing scenarios, this book offers a unique source of knowledge to marketing professionals, students, and educators across the world. The main objective of this case book is to understand the applicability of marketing science (marketing for social good context, such as social marketing and sustainability marketing) in internet marketing related to e-buying behavior and e-WOM. In addition, it illustrates the various types of existing marketing practices that are relevant from both theoretical and practical points of view in this electronic era, as well as discussing other non-electronic marketing practices and focusing on consumer buying behavior. As a result, marketing managers can treat their customers according to their desired value. This book particularly explores the possibilities and advantages created by social marketing and sustainability marketing through the presentation of thorough review articles and case studies. This case book helps corporate training centers and universities with compact teaching reference materials in their relevant courses.

A valuable contribution." Charles J. The book is a rich source of thought for everyone who wants to get deeper insights into this important topic. The accompanying five detailed case studies on a wide array of corporate sustainable and responsible initiatives are helpful in demonstrating how theoretical frameworks have been implemented into practical initiatives. This book is a critical companion for academics, students, and practitioners." Adam Lindgreen, Professor and Head of Department of Marketing, Copenhagen Business School, Denmark "This book is an essential resource for students, practitioners, and scholars. Another step forward in establishing a new business paradigm." Rene Schmidpeter, Professor of International Business Ethics and CSR at Cologne Business School (CBS), Germany "Dr. Camilleri's book is a testimony to the continuous need around the inquiry and advocacy of the kind of responsibility that firms have towards societal tenets. Understanding how CSR can become a modern manifestation of deep engagement into socio-economic undercurrents of our firms, is the book's leading contribution to an important debate, that is more relevant today than ever before." Mark Esposito, Professor of Business and Economics at Harvard University, MA, USA "Mark's book is a great addition to the literature on CSR and EM; it will fill one of the gaps that have continued to exist in business and management schools, since there are insufficient cases for teaching and learning in CSR and Environmental Management in Business Schools around the globe." Samuel O. Idowu, Senior Lecturer in Accounting at London Metropolitan University, UK; Professor of CSR at Nanjing University of Finance and Economics, China and a Deputy CEO, Global Corporate Governance Institute, USA "Corporate Social Responsibility has grown from 'nice to have' for big companies to a necessity for all companies. Dr Mark Camilleri sketches with this excellent book the current debate in CSR and CSR communication and with his cases adds valuable insights in the ongoing development and institutionalization of CSR in nowadays business." Lez Rayman-Bacchus, Philip R. Walsh
R1,219 Discovery Miles 12 190 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book explores the overlapping interests of corporate responsibility and sustainable development, specifically focusing on the dynamics of social change, sustainability governance and evaluation, and creating social value. Corporate Responsibility and Sustainable Development: An Integrative Perspective draws on ideas and research relevant to both concepts, highlighting the interdependent nature of corporate strategy and policymaker ambition. They propose an integrative understanding to tackling global challenges around sustainable development and focus on four themes: contextualisation; perspectives on social change; sustainability governance and evaluation; and creating social value. Overall, the book takes an evaluative approach, using these themes as lenses for engaging with global challenges, which encourages reflection and informed action. Written by two highly experienced authors, this book integrates short case studies and chapter questions throughout the text, in order to reinforce learning and help readers reconcile ideas presented with real world issues. It will be an essential resource for tutors and advanced undergraduate and postgraduate students of business, governance and corporate governance, corporate social responsibility (CSR), sustainability and sustainable development, stakeholder theory, business ethics, and politics.

Corporate Environmental Reporting - The Western Approach to Nature (Paperback): Leanne J Morrison Corporate Environmental Reporting - The Western Approach to Nature (Paperback)
Leanne J Morrison
R1,439 Discovery Miles 14 390 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book explores corporate environmental discourse by examining a sample of corporate environmental reports through the lens of environmental philosophy. Findings include the predominant use of a dualistic approach towards nature, which highlights the perceived 'separateness' of companies from the natural world. Also explored are the corporate articulations of interconnectivity and transcendence, two philosophical approaches that are also in common use in western culture. The expression of these themes reveals the discursive underpinnings of a harmful relationship with nature. Exploring the ways in which discourse informs corporate relationships with nature allows for an in-depth 'diagnosis' of current environmental problems. The history of environmental philosophy demonstrates how some powerful philosophical approaches have shaped the western relationship with nature over time, and continue to do so through corporate environmental reporting. Corporate Environmental Reporting: The Western Approach to Nature demonstrates how corporate reporting is used to reduce the perception of the corporate responsibility, and contributes to the erosion of broader cultural restraints against the harmful treatment of nature. As such, discourse is integral to the survival of the world which we - and other members of our biotic community - are utterly reliant on. It shows the latest state of knowledge on the topic and will be of interest both to students at an advanced level, academics and reflective practitioners. It will be of interest to researchers, academics, and students in the fields of accounting, management, environmental philosophy and sustainable management.

The Impact of Tourist Activities on Low-Density Territories - Evaluation Frameworks, Lessons, and Policy Recommendations... The Impact of Tourist Activities on Low-Density Territories - Evaluation Frameworks, Lessons, and Policy Recommendations (Hardcover, 1st ed. 2021)
Rui Pedro Marques, Ana Isabel Melo, Maria Manuela Natario, Ricardo Biscaia
R3,806 Discovery Miles 38 060 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

This book tackles the question of how tourism development and suitable policies can be used to promote sustainable development in Low-Density Territories (LDTs). The respective chapters, written by prominent experts, identify the problems associated with LDTs; highlight the comparative advantages of these territories with regard to tourism; propose methodologies for assessing the impact of tourism; and present case studies on the application of sustainable policies in tourism. Given its scope, it will be especially interesting for academics and researchers investigating LDTs and sustainable tourism, and for policymakers interested in developing these territories. LDTs represent an economic challenge, especially because most of them are home to an increasingly ageing population unable to pursue economic development. In these territories, tourism is emerging as an excellent opportunity to promote innovative dynamics, to lure investment, and to attract new people. However, it is important to promote sustainable tourism, which preserves the environment and communities' quality of life. The Chapter "Tourism, immigrants and lifestyle entrepreneurship: The (In)coming of people as a key factor for sustainability of low-density territories - A case study in Portugal" is available open access under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License via link.springer.com.

Michael Benoliel, Geetanjali Mukherjee, Jose Jin Chuan Yong
R1,254 Discovery Miles 12 540 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

Negotiation comes up in our daily lives in so many interactions - in job interviews, while buying a house, and even when deciding where to go on a date or discussing your teenager's curfew. Executives are routinely expected to negotiate - with vendors, customers and each other - with little training or experience. Companies rely on their people to negotiate multi-million dollar deals, but fail to provide even basic negotiation tools.Negotiate, Persuade and Create Great Deals brings together cutting-edge research on negotiation from neuroscience, evolutionary theory and behavioral psychology along with interviews and insights with 25 master negotiators in business, politics, sports and diplomacy. We provide tools and techniques that can help executives and business professionals improve their ability to negotiate deals, while also laying out a framework that can support companies that wish to improve their organizational negotiation capabilities. Blending theory and practice, with plenty of examples of successful and failed negotiations in business and politics, this practical guide is an invaluable tool to prepare you for your next negotiation.

Negotiating Genuinely - Being Yourself in Business (Paperback): Shirli Kopelman Negotiating Genuinely - Being Yourself in Business (Paperback)
Shirli Kopelman
R324 Discovery Miles 3 240 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

We often assume that strategic negotiation requires us to wall off vulnerable parts of ourselves and act rationally to win. But, what if you could just be you in business? Taking a positive approach, this brief distills years of research, teaching, and coaching into an integrated framework for negotiating genuinely.
One of the most fundamental and challenging battlegrounds in our work lives, negotiation calls on us to compete and cooperate to do our jobs well and achieve extraordinary results. But, the biggest challenge in a negotiation is to be strategic while also being real. Author Shirli Kopelman argues that this duality is both possible and powerful. In "Negotiating Genuinely," she teaches readers how to reconcile the disparate hats that they wear in everyday life--with families, friends, and colleagues--bringing one "integral hat" to the negotiation table. Kopelman develops and shares techniques that illuminate this approach; exercises along the way help readers to negotiate more naturally, positively, and successfully.

Nature's Fortune - How Business and Society Thrive by Investing in Nature (Hardcover): Jonathan S. Adams, Mark Tercek Nature's Fortune - How Business and Society Thrive by Investing in Nature (Hardcover)
Jonathan S. Adams, Mark Tercek
R1,077 Discovery Miles 10 770 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

What is nature worth? The answer to this question--which traditionally has been framed in environmental terms--is revolutionizing the way we do business.
In Nature's Fortune, Mark Tercek, CEO of The Nature Conservancy and former investment banker, and science writer Jonathan Adams argue that nature is not only the foundation of human well-being, but also the smartest commercial investment any business or government can make. The forests, floodplains, and oyster reefs often seen simply as raw materials or as obstacles to be cleared in the name of progress are, in fact as important to our future prosperity as technology or law or business innovation.
Who invests in nature, and why? What rates of return can it produce? When is protecting nature a good investment? With stories from the South Pacific to the California coast, from the Andes to the Gulf of Mexico and even to New York City, Nature's Fortune shows how viewing nature as green infrastructure allows for breakthroughs not only in conservation--protecting water supplies; enhancing the health of fisheries; making cities more sustainable, livable and safe; and dealing with unavoidable climate change--but in economic progress, as well. Organizations obviously depend on the environment for key resources--water, trees, and land. But they can also reap substantial commercial benefits in the form of risk mitigation, cost reduction, new investment opportunities, and the protection of assets. Once leaders learn how to account for nature in financial terms, they can incorporate that value into the organization's decisions and activities, just as habitually as they consider cost, revenue, and ROI.
A must-read for business leaders, CEOs, investors, and environmentalists alike, Nature's Fortune offers an essential guide to the world's economic--and environmental--well-being.

Pursuing Sustainability - OR/MS Applications in Sustainable Design, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Resource Management... Pursuing Sustainability - OR/MS Applications in Sustainable Design, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Resource Management (Hardcover, 1st ed. 2021)
Chia-Lin Chen, Yihsu Chen, Vaidyanathan Jayaraman
R4,008 Discovery Miles 40 080 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This handbook includes three parts, corresponding to the following three domains of OR/MS research related to sustainability: (i) Systems Design, Innovation, and Technology, (ii) Manufacturing, Logistics, and Transportation, and (iii) Sustainable Natural Resource Management. The first part of the handbook (Chapters 2-6) will focus on the creation and development of sustainable products, services, value chains, and organizations from a systems perspective. Key areas to be covered include Green Design & Innovation, Technology and Engineering Management, Sustainable Value Chain Systems, Sustainability Standards and Performance Evaluation, and Circular Economy and New Research Directions in Sustainability. The second part of the handbook (Chapters 7-11) will concentrate on the major operational and logistic issues faced by today's industries in pursuing sustainability. Key areas to be covered include Remanufacturing, Reverse Logistics, Closed-Loop Supply Chains, Sustainable Transportation, and New Research Directions in Green Supply Chain Management. The third part of the proposed handbook (Chapters 12-16) will center on major sustainability issues in managing engineering infrastructure and natural resources. Key areas to be covered include Renewable Energy, Sustainable Water Resource, Biofuel Infrastructure, Natural Gas, and New Research Direction in Sustainable Resource Management. The handbook aims to bridge the three main OR/MS research domains in sustainability: "Systems Design, Innovation, and Technology," "Manufacturing, Logistics, and Transportation," and "Sustainable Natural Resource Management." Traditionally, these domains are treated separately in the OR/MS literature. By combining the three domains, the handbook will provide a more holistic treatment of MS/OR methodologies to address critical sustainability issues faced by today's society. Unlike most existing handbooks which only focus on current OR/MS research in sustainability within a domain, this handbook will include a concluding chapter in each of the three parts to discuss and identify potential future research directions in each of the three main domains.

Toxic Town - IBM, Pollution, and Industrial Risks (Paperback): Peter C. Little Toxic Town - IBM, Pollution, and Industrial Risks (Paperback)
Peter C. Little
R774 Discovery Miles 7 740 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Shows the risks of high-tech pollution through a study of an IBM plant's effects on a New York town In 1924, IBM built its first plant in Endicott, New York. Now, Endicott is a contested toxic waste site. With its landscape thoroughly contaminated by carcinogens, Endicott is the subject of one of the nation's largest corporate-state mitigation efforts. Yet despite the efforts of IBM and the U.S. government, Endicott residents remain skeptical that the mitigation systems employed were designed with their best interests at heart. In Toxic Town, Peter C. Little tracks and critically diagnoses the experiences of Endicott residents as they learn to live with high-tech pollution, community transformation, scientific expertise, corporate-state power, and risk mitigation technologies. By weaving together the insights of anthropology, political ecology, disaster studies, and science and technology studies, the book explores questions of theoretical and practical import for understanding the politics of risk and the ironies of technological disaster response in a time when IBM's stated mission is to build a "Smarter Planet." Little critically reflects on IBM's new corporate tagline, arguing for a political ecology of corporate social and environmental responsibility and accountability that places the social and environmental politics of risk mitigation front and center. Ultimately, Little argues that we will need much more than hollow corporate taglines, claims of corporate responsibility, and attempts to mitigate high-tech disasters to truly build a smarter planet.

Zabihollah Rezaee
R3,662 Discovery Miles 36 620 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Business sustainability has advanced from greenwashing and branding to being a business imperative. Stakeholders, including shareholders, demand, regulators require, and companies now need to report their sustainability performance. No longer is this a choice for businesses. A decade ago, fewer than 50 companies released sustainability reports, and now more 8,000 global public companies disclose sustainability performance information on some or all five economic, governance, social, ethical, and environmental (EGSEE) dimensions of sustainability performance, and this trend is expected to continue. Indeed, more than 6,000 European public companies would be required to disclose their environmental, social, governance and diversity information for their 2017 reporting year. However, the proper determination of sustainability performance, accurate and reliable reporting and independent assurance of sustainability information remain major challenges for organizations of all types and sizes. Through reading this book, you will: Identify sustainability strategies to create innovation in new products, services, energy-efficiency, environmental facilities and green initiatives. Understand the role and responsibilities of all participants in the corporate reporting process, including directors, officers, internal auditors, external auditors, legal counsel, and investors. See ways to improve public trust, investor confidence, business reputation, employee satisfaction, corporate culture, social responsibility and environmental performance. Learn all five economic, governance, social, ethical and environmental (EGSEE) dimensions of sustainability performance separately and their integrated and interactive effects on achieving the goal of creating sustainable value for all stakeholders, including shareholders. Learn how to adopt best practices in sustainability development and performance, and deliver effective integrated sustainability reporting and assurance.

Few entrepreneurs are aware of the benefits and opportunities available through the SBA. There are few resources available to guide entrepreneurs through the process. "Approved" was written to fill that gap by providing a step-by-step guide to the SBA loan approval. Applying for a business loan can be difficult, time intensive and expensive, but it doesn't have to be. "Approved" was written to provide a straightforward road map to obtain approval. After finishing "Approved", you will be able to highlight strengths (and mitigate weaknesses) from a lender's perspective, provide a simple business plan identifying how the business will be profitable for the long term, and accurately prepare a business loan application that can be immediately submitted through underwriting unlike most business applications submitted.
